How The Hair Growth Cycle Affects Sugaring
Noticing some prickles after just a few days? Let's get to the root of this!
At this point we all know using Sugar Me Smooth's sugar wax is much better for your skin than other forms of hair removal. But what if you experience some "stubble" only a couple days after Sugaring? Wasn't a huge perk of switching to Sugar Me Smooth supposed to be avoiding pesky regrowth so soon?
Understanding that your hair naturally is growing in different stages will help us understand what's happening if we notice regrowth soon after Sugaring Yourself Smooth.
Here's a breakdown: Your hair grows in three stages:
Anagen - The active growth stage
Catagen - The transitional stage
Telogen - The resting stage
Our sugar paste does a great job at removing hair above the skin's surface without damaging the skin. But because not every hair on your body grows in and falls out at the same time, sometimes you may notice a few tiny hairs left behind, or popping through in the coming days. Just sugar over the hairs as you come across them and soon enough your hair will all be on the same growth cycle!
Example: You're ready to sugar. You've waited 5-7 days post-shaving hair length (about the length of a grain of rice) and you're itching to having smooth skin! You may think in this amount of time, every hair is now grown out and ready to be sugared. While the truth is, you may have up to 20% of hairs still beneath the skin's surface! You Sugar Yourself Smooth, then realize a few days later you've got a few spots with shorts little hairs coming in! This isn't to say you did a bad job sugaring, or that the sugar paste didn't work. It just means that as those new hairs appear, you'll need to sugar over them again to maintain your smooth skin.
Sugaring every 3-4 weeks will ensure those new baby hairs on a different growth cycle don't interfere with your smooth skin. Remember, unlike wax, every time you use Sugar Me Smooth you are exfoliating and nourishing your skin with all-natural ingredients. Be consistent with it, and you'll LOVE the results!
Short on time? Here's a quick Summary:
Your hair grows in phases. When you sugar, most of your hair might be ready at 1/4 inch long while some hair is still just below the surface. In the next fews days post-sugaring, you may find some new growth. Just sugar the regrowth away as you see it. Continue to sugar every 4 weeks and soon enough your hair will grow in at the same cycle, leaving you with
