Carson's Cause 2021: $16,000 Donation to CETC

Sugar Me Smooth is proud to announce a $16,000 donation to CETC aiding those with intellectual disabilities in Logan, UT.

Due to the pandemic, CETC (Cache Employment And Training Center - A disability center in Logan, Utah) had lost a significant amount of funding, directly impacting the students enrolled. One of the most tragic losses was their beloved music enrichment program. Sandy Smith, Executive Director of CETC said of the program, "For individuals with disabilities, such programs can fine-tune motor skills, develop confidence, encourage teamwork, improve memory, and provide a necessary emotional outlet." Smith went on to say the music program gives students “a way to come out of their shell, express themselves and communicate”.

This $16,000 donation was able to bring back the beloved music enrichment program for ALL youth. This included hiring their music teacher Lisa Earl, and providing ukuleles, bells, costumes and other props for the program.

The donation was also able to furnish an entire classroom for CETC's Summer Youth Program. Kayla Allen, Summer Program Coordinator, explained that the furnishings “help turn an empty room into a home”.

The furnishings included tables, desks, cubbies, bookcases, and a new favorite reading corner equipped with books, bookshelves, a white board, and bean bag chairs.

What is Carson's Cause?

Carson's Cause is Sugar Me Smooth's community initiative to give back to individuals with intellectual disabilities. A portion of our sales will be donated to organizations that support those with intellectual disabilities.

Who is Carson?

Carson is the son of Sugar Me Smooth founders, BJ and Emily Smith. Carson was born with significant delays, has challenges with self-help skills, motor skills, and is completely non-verbal. He also struggles with receptive language, or in other words, understanding what words are and mean. Through their experience with Carson, BJ & Emily strive to help others in similar situations.
